Start Before You’re Ready — That’s the Game Now.
Last week, I had two conversations.
Both stayed with me.
The first was with a young professional—early in his career.
Good job. Stable income.
Everything looked “right.”
But he said,
“Ma’am… I’m not happy. I want to try something else.”
I asked, “What’s stopping you?”
He didn’t hesitate.
“I don’t want to wait till everything is perfect.
I’ll figure it out on the way.”
A day later, I met someone else.
More experienced. Well-settled.
Clear path. Strong stability.
But when I asked if they ever thought of doing something different…
They smiled and said,
“Of course. But I can’t risk it now.
I need to be completely sure before I make a move.”
Same feeling.
Different response.
And that’s when it struck me—
This isn’t just about individuals.
It’s a shift in mindset.
One generation is asking,
“What if I fail?”
The other is asking,
“What if I never try?”
One is wired for stability.
The other is comfortable with uncertainty.
But let’s be honest—
Risk-taking isn’t always bravery.
Sometimes, it’s also a privilege.
Not everyone can afford to take a leap.
Responsibilities, family, financial pressure… they’re real.
At the same time, waiting for “perfect readiness” can quietly keep people stuck for years.
So who’s right?
Maybe… both are.
Because this isn’t a competition between generations.
It’s a reflection of how the world has changed.
Earlier, stability was safety.
Today, even stability can shift overnight.
So the real shift is this—
From “Be ready, then start” to “Start… and become ready.”
And somewhere in between,
Each of us is trying to find our own balance.
So let me ask you—
Do you relate more to
playing safe… or starting before you’re ready?
